Who we are
Reduced listening (vb)
1. A method of listening that focuses on the essential properties of a sound, not on its source or context.
2. From the French – l’écoute réduite – coined by musique concrète pioneer Pierre Schaeffer.
Reduced Listening draws on years of podcast and radio making to craft award-winning audio. We care about culture and stories that don’t otherwise get told, and we aim to bring our creativity, our editorial vision and our values together in every piece of work we make.
The company is made up of journalists, curators, art lovers, DJs and audio witches. We work collectively and collaboratively to bring the best combination of skills to new projects, with our team of staff and wide pool of freelancers.
With extensive experience making audio for the BBC, running weekly strands and conceiving and delivering dynamic podcasts, Reduced Listening will be an engaged and creative partner on your next audio project.

Managing Director Joby (he/him) has two decades of experience working across audio documentaries, drama, music programmes and audiobooks. He is a founding trustee of Multitrack.

Nicole Logan
Nicole (she/her) is Head of Development, supporting both clients and producers with new initiatives and ideas, across podcast and radio. She is the Executive Producer on Nailing It for Spotify and Arlo Park’s Dream Fuel, Ultimate Calm and Ambient Focus for BBC Sounds.

Dan Jackson
Dan (he/him) is our Head of Production with twenty years' experience making TV, Radio and Podcasts at ITV, the BBC and indies. He works across all our productions providing support in business affairs, contracts and production planning. Dan is also an Executive Producer working in factual, arts and video content with visual oversight of Pod Save the UK.

Viv Parry
Viv (she/her) is our Head of Operations with several decades of experience working in business and finance. She provides HR support to the team and oversees all of our finance systems. viv@reducedlistening.co.uk
Phil Smith
Phil (he/him) is the exec for our music programmes; Late Junction, Freeness and Unclassified for BBC Radio 3. As a feature maker he has produced editions of Between The Ears, Sunday Feature and Words and Music. He is also a composer, DJ, and sound artist.
Anishka Sharma
Anishka (she/her) is an Executive Producer working on Pod Save the UK for Crooked Media. She has genre expertise in factual, comedy and drama and oversees our arts podcasts, including Serpentine Podcast and Frieze Masters.

Musty (he/him) is the Senior Producer of Pod Save the UK for Crooked Media.
Kit Callin
Kit (they/them) produces Late Junction for BBC Radio 3, Dream Fuel for BBC 6 music and Ultimate Calm for BBC Sounds. They also produce Serpentine Podcasts, Manchester International Festival’s Dream Space and co-produced Arthur Cares for BBC Radio 4.
Alexa Kruger
Alexa (she/her) produces Ambient Focus, Classical Focus and Sleeping Forecast for BBC Sounds.
Silvia Malnati
Silvia (she/her) works as a Producer across our Radio 3 and BBC Sounds shows including Late Junction, Freeness, Ambient Focus and Slow Radio. She also works on Frieze Masters podcast.
Alex Bishop
Alex (he/him) is the Digital Producer of Pod Save the UK for Crooked Media.
Annie Keates Thorpe
Annie (she/her) is our Production Management Assistant. She looks after our HQ at Hackney Downs Studios and is the first point of contact for administrative inquiries. She is the production coordinator for our audio drama and video podcasts. She oversees our recording equipment and manages our website.

Cat Gough
Cat (she/her) is our Assistant Producer who supports all of our BBC Radio and BBC Sounds shows. She also produces Sleeping Forecast for BBC Sounds, oversees programme delivery and coordinates our social media content.
Tej Adeleye
Tej (she/her) works with us as a freelance Producer on Freeness for BBC Radio 3. She also created Giant Steps for Jazz FM.
Femi Oriogun-Williams
Femi (they/them) works with us as a freelance producer, sound designer and composer. Their projects include the Get Up Stand Up Now! podcast for Somerset House and the Afropean Podcast for National Geographic. They are currently in production with a podcast series for the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.
Tess Davidson
Tess (she/her) is a freelance researcher and producer. Her recent projects include research work on A Life in Music for BBC Radio 4 and producing the Destination USA podcast series for Index Ventures.
Alannah Chance
Alannah (she/her) works with us as a freelance exec producer and senior producer. She was the exec producer of Late Junction on BBC Radio 3 and the For All I Care podcast for the Wellcome Collection and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. She produced the Electronic India documentary for BBC Radio 3 and the New Weird Britain series for BBC Radio 4.
Ant Adeane
Ant (he/him) is a freelance producer who undertakes regular development work with us as well as producing documentaries. He recently produced Unplayable:Disability and the Gaming Revolution for BBC Radio 4.
Barney Rowntree
Barney (he/him) is a founding director of Reduced Listening and a freelance exec producer and producer.
