Criminally Queer wins Specialist Podcast of the Year at the Future of Media Awards

We're delighted to share that our BBC Audio Lab production Criminally Queer: The Bolton 7 won Specialist Podcast of the Year at Press Gazette’s Future of Media Awards 2025.

Produced by Hugh Sheehan, alongside executive producer Anishka Sharma, the five-part documentary was carefully crafted to explore the landmark legal case that changed the lives of seven men from Bolton and to uncover one of the most significant miscarriages of justice in recent LGBTQ+ British history.

The judges said: “Great storytelling, brilliant concept and it’s genuinely made a difference.”

A huge congratulations to Hugh and Anishka, who's dedication and vision helped produce a powerful and important audio series.
